Description

This is a private tour to the Blue Mountains. Only you or the friends and family you choose to accompany you will be participating in the day. The area known as the Blue Mountains is an uplifted sandstone plateau, eroded by water creating spectacular gorges, cliffs, valleys, waterfalls and forests. We start the day by picking you up at your accommodation. Once in the Blue Mountains there is no better way to enjoy its grandeur than by visiting a selection of scenic lookouts (5 in all). Our first lookout, Lincoln Rock, is a large flat sandstone rock that provides a natural lookout from which to observe the Jamison Valley and its dense eucalyptus forest. Echo Point lookout is perfectly placed to see the mountains’ most well known rock formation, the three sisters, which are three weathered sandstone peaks. As your eyes sweep across the massive Jamison Valley the scale of the valley’s only mountain, Mt Solitary becomes apparent. Add in the rock formation, Ruined Castle, and Narrowneck Plateau and you have one spectacular view. We then visit the remarkable Boars Head lookout that provided direct views of a rock formation that looks like a wild boar. Nearby Cahill's lookout provides sweeping views of Narrowneck Plateau which divides the Jamison and Megalong valleys. Our final lookout is Govetts leap where we see the magnificent Grose Valley and the longest single drop waterfall (180 metres) in the mountains, Bridal Veil Falls. Time for lunch prepared by your guide. For lunch we bring fresh 24 hour fermented sourdough bread with a range of fillings and two freshly made salads. There might even be desert! The day is completely flexible and from this point we have a few choices. We can do a bushwalk of 1, 2 or 3 hours duration and will send further information on the walks if you would like to do this. Otherwise we can outline the varied walks to you as we drive to the mountains. Alternatively we can include a visit to Scenic World with a smaller bushwalk. If you prefer not to bushwalk at all we can visit Wentworth Falls and quaint Leura Village or go further afield and visit Mt Tomah Botanical Gardens. Other places that can be visited upon request include the Newnes glow worm tunnel or Sydney Zoo to see native animals on the way to or way back from the mountains. So much to do and so little time. This is the private tour you have been waiting for!

Important Information

  • The tour is flexible so we can draft an itinerary before the day or determine our itinerary as we head to the Blue Mountains. Generally we stick with the lookouts to start the day. They are very good so we don't want you to miss them! After the lookouts a key decision point is whether your group would like to do a bushwalk (hike). Walks can range from 30 minutes to 3 hours and we have five to choose from. After deciding on whether you would like to walk a second decision is whether to visit Scenic World. Usually this takes around 90 - 120 minutes and includes two cable cars and rapid descent railway to the Jamison valley's rainforest. Other options for the day include a visit to Leura village and if your are up for a drive we can go further to the Newnes glow worm tunnel, or we can visit Sydney Zoo on the way to or back from the mountains. If interested we can have a cold beverage or coffee at the end of the day. We offer a range of things to do so you get what suits you most.
