Description
Discover Sydney’s most iconic sights and best-kept secrets on our Harbour Sights Running Tour — a 9km morning adventure designed for runners who want to experience the city in motion. With a relaxed, conversational pace, regular stops for stories and photos, and a focus on enjoyment over speed, this tour is perfect for visitors, locals, and casual runners alike. We begin bright and early at 7:00 am in Hyde Park, Sydney’s oldest public park and a green oasis in the heart of the city. With its tree-lined paths, fountains, and towering cathedral backdrop, it’s the perfect spot to warm up and hear how this space has evolved from colonial farmland to one of Australia’s most cherished urban parks. From there, we jog toward Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, a sandstone seat carved by convicts in 1810 for the wife of Governor Lachlan Macquarie. This historic lookout offers one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, including the Opera House and Harbour Bridge framed perfectly against the water. Next, we run along the edge of Farm Cove, following the waterline past the Royal Botanic Garden and toward the Sydney Opera House. Here, we pause beneath the iconic sails to hear the story of its controversial construction, near-budget ruin, and eventual rise to global fame. From there, we enter The Rocks, Sydney’s oldest neighbourhood, filled with convict history, cobblestone laneways, and tales of scandal, smuggling, and survival. It’s a short climb up to the pedestrian path of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, where we take in unmatched views of the skyline, harbour, and Circular Quay below — a reward worth every step. Once across the bridge, the pace slows as we wind through the leafy streets of Kirribilli, one of Sydney’s most charming harbourside suburbs. But the true hidden gem is Wendy’s Secret Garden, a peaceful, art-filled sanctuary created by Wendy Whiteley in memory of her husband, iconic artist Brett Whiteley. It’s a place full of life, healing, and personal history — and a surprising moment of calm amid the city. The tour concludes nearby, right on the edge of the harbour, where we finish with a well-earned coffee at a local café, soaking in the morning sun and watching the ferries glide across the water. After a final stretch and a few laughs, you’ll hop on a scenic ferry ride back to Circular Quay — a fitting end to a uniquely Sydney experience. Whether you're new to town or know Sydney like the back of your hand, this running tour offers a fresh perspective, incredible photo opportunities, and a deeper connection to the city’s past and present — all before 9:00 am.Includes
