The staff is helpful but reception closes at 9. What's worse is they offer rooms (priced over 100$) without windows. Pay extra to upgrade. Overall decent experience but not worth the cost.
The staff are wonderful and the location is great, but unfortunately I can’t recommend this hotel, especially for the price. The main problems are security, noise and cleaning. While the ‘Park View’ room looks out over wonderful trees, it also looks over a major road and there’s a busy bus stop where people can see into your room. There are also REALLY bright spotlights on the hotel’s front sign that shines straight into the room. The walls are paper thin and you can easily hear the people in the room next door. Security is also bad - guests are meant to use their keycard to access the lobby after 9pm, but the front door that leads onto the street doesn’t lock. Hotel rooms don’t have a chain nor a peep hole, and the front desk staff leave at 9pm. In my room, the safe couldn’t be used as it was locked, the phone didn’t work, plugs were falling out of the wall, the towels desperately need replacing, the shower flooded the bathroom and it was very dusty. I gave the front desk team a list of things that needed fixing or cleaning when I first arrived. To their credit I was offered another room but it had a tiny window and weird set up. Cleaning is woefully inadequate - I kept my eye on a dead blowfly and filthy coffee table in a communal sitting area the whole week I stayed - they were still there when I left. My room was made up every day, but there was always something disappointing - dirty coffee cups not replaced/ bin not emptied/ quilt cover on the floor. For the price of this hotel I’d expect a better level of cleaning. I didn’t have the breakfast, but I do know it was $25 and definitely not worth that.
Terrible stay. No windows, no table to work at, very dated and the smell from the bathroom was terrible. I wish I knew it was a “backpackers” not a hotel I would have booked something more decent. The aircon was so noisy and with no windows you had to use the aircon.
For the price and reviews, I was a bit sceptical. This place ended up fantastic. We were greeted with lovely receptionists who allowed us to access the back of the building to bring in our luggage from the the south car park of Broadway shopping centre. I had an internal room for 1 night with a queen bed. The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was quite spacious. The water pressure was excellent. The shampoo and soap and body lotion smelled lovely. The room matched the pictures. There was coffee and tea and a fridge. The only problem with the room is one of the night switches near the bed is behind the headboard. There was also a sewer smell in the room and you needed to keep the bathroom door shut. The family room consisted of a king and queen bed. There was plenty of space in the queen room for 2 chairs. The toilet area was a little bit tighter than the internal room. The receptionist offered us free breakfast, which was appreciated however it was really old and cold. You have to wash your own dishes. The coffee machine was good. You would be safe with toast, yogurt and cereal. This was definitely not worth $25 ahead and that's probably why they gave it to us for free. There is a microwave in the area, so you could heat up your own meals. The bus stop to Central Railway Square is only fifty metres down the road. I would definitely.I choose to stay here again if I was in the city for a night or 2. There are no closets.However , there is an Ikea open wardrobe. The bedside tables had a large drawer. Some of the rooms had usb charging ports.
