This workshop offers a focused painting experience using traditional Japanese watercolour pigments on pre-drawn floral motifs printed on high-quality, cotton-rich paper. Held next to the Australian Museum at Atolya studio, the class explores floral art styles from the Ottoman, Mughal, and Safavid eras, spanning over 600 years.
Participants will learn about Rumi-styled shapes such as Hatayi, Penç, cloud, crescent, star, tulips, carnations, and hyacinths, significant motifs in Ottoman art since the 16th century. The workshop prioritizes relaxation, allowing you to practice watercolour techniques and experiment with colour palettes using prepared templates.
Additional pre-drawn painting papers are available for purchase on-site, so you can continue refining your skills after the class.
