Reviews
Super friendly hostel, everyone has been so lovely. I booked a private room which was next to the garden so was quite loud at times. Asked if I could switch rooms and Oscar was kind enough to accommodate my request. Ive stayed in hostels that are unfriendly and this was pleasantly not the case.
Amazing stay! The location in Coogee is perfect—close to the beach and everything you need. The service was great throughout my stay, and a special thank you to Esmeralda for such a warm and friendly welcome. I would definitely come back!
I had a great stay at the hostel, and wish I could stay longer. While the hostel is in need of a bit of updating and refurbishment (which I believe is ongoing), the location and especially all the staff make it a really great place to enjoy Sydney. Frequent busses to everywhere including the airport and CBD are just down the road. There is a supermarket practically next door and Coogee beach just a stones throw away. If I'm ever back in Sydney, this is where I will be staying! Thanks again guys!
Only rating this 2 stars because I ended up pushing to get a refund, and the lovely staff figured things out for me, even with the “no refund” policy. My partner and I booked a private double room for 16 nights, and chose this hostel because of the price and location. I am not the target audience for hostels by any means, but we did pay to have our own room. I thought this would be comparable to other budget hotels we have stayed in, but I was mistaken. This was my first and probably only experience I will have staying in a hostel. To cut to the chase, our room was absolutely infested with cockroaches. I'm not talking about one or two, I'm talking about more than I could count on fingers and toes, and that's only accounting for the ones we had seen/killed. Even though on the books this was my second night staying, our flight was rebooked overnight so we ended up only being there for 1 night. We did not sleep because they were crawling up the walls, all over the floors, you name it. So yes, because we were already running off such little sleep, we were really upset. The staff was wonderful and very apologetic when we told her we couldn't stay. She did offer to switch us rooms to upstairs, but we declined as we had found accommodation elsewhere. Management did honor our refund of the remaining 14 nights. A quick PSA, they do have signs posted everywhere asking guests to not consume food in the rooms. My partner and I did not. I have a feeling that staff believes we did because we left an empty grocery bag in the room after we checked out, but that was used for toiletries, not food. In conclusion, if you're on a tight budget and solo traveling, the pods wouldn't be the worst option for someone in need. Otherwise, I would stay away from this place for awhile. It has so much potential, especially with the location being close to perfect. I’ve made this review to keep other travelers safe, cheers!
Visited the pod bed right by Coogee beach. The location is fantastic. Excellent for a walk along the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Cody was a real pleasure to talk to. It appears that a lot of improvements have been made to bring this place up to standard. Great value for money considering where it is. Well worth a stay.
