What a fantastic Sunday afternoon at the East Sydney Hotel. The live jazz created such a great atmosphere, but what really made our night was Mika, the lovely blonde bartender. She was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Great service can make all the difference, and Mika’s positive attitude and smile really stood out. We’ll definitely be back for the Sunday jazz and hope to see her behind the bar again. Highly recommended.
Honestly very happy with everything here. Service and pub were warm and cosy. The rooms themselves are more than you'd expect for the price. Bit noisy in the morning but not much you can do about that. Showers are awesome. Location great close to everything and very affordable. Will be back
Charming, old world corner pub that's retained much of its originality. It has the kind of character that’s becoming increasingly rare in Sydney with traditional decor and a friendly local vibe. The Beef and Guinness pie is a must try. A local gem.
Stopped in to the pub to use the WC while walking but stayed for a few pints the place felt so comfortable. Built in 1856 as the Shamrock Hotel this place with indoor and outdoor seating options has a lot of stories, is walks could share…. Food looked good and there were regulars coming in all during my visit. UPDATE: I went back the next day and got the current special - green Curry Chicken for lunch; very good with just the right amount of hot!
NB: Review is in relation to the bar / eating area. Up for a few days from Melbourne with the family to attend the Saturday night performance of the 'Phantom of The Opera' theatre show that we had ticket's too. We found the East Sydney hotel that is close to where the theatre show was in the Royal Botanical Gardens is to have pre dinner and drinks. Lovely old original hotel and bar where we enjoyed a delicious meal and drink. Small size pub with staff that were excellent as one of our family has a gluten intolerance, so they insured the meals prepared were gluten free. We will come again next time we are in Sydney as we enjoyed our evening there. Cheers
