Kazan Japanese Dining

Kazan Japanese Dining was seriously impressive. The oysters were some of the best I’ve had super fresh and full of flavour. The sushi selection was equally good, with everything tasting fresh and well prepared. Dessert was a standout too and finished the meal perfectly. Service was excellent throughout; friendly, attentive and made the whole experience really enjoyable.
It was my sister’s birthday, so it was my first time visiting. We didn’t have a reservation, but luckily there was one table left, so we sat outside. Even so, the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was beyond words—truly a fine dining experience I had never had before. The service was unbelievably good, honestly beyond expectations. We were thinking of going somewhere else for dessert, but decided to stay and try it here—and I’m so glad we did. The desserts were just as amazing and we loved them. It was such a pleasant and memorable meal. If I ever need to treat friends or someone special, I would absolutely recommend this place. It was a perfectly satisfying evening.
Kazan at Martin Place is a fantastic spot for a Friday night dinner. Conveniently located just a short three-minute walk from the train station, it’s easy to get to and sits right in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is cozy, with a lively yet relaxed vibe. On a Friday night, it’s filled with young professionals, which adds to the energy of the place. While the ambience is warm and inviting, it’s better suited for adults rather than a family night out with young children—especially given the menu’s focus on raw seafood. Service was excellent. Our waiter, Stelli, was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. We opted for the tasting menu, and every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavour. With seven of us dining, everyone had their own favourites. The edamame stood out as something unique—perfectly salty with a satisfying crunch. The kingfish sashimi was incredibly fresh and light. The wagyu taco wasn’t my personal favourite simply due to my preference, but others at the table loved it and noted how well-balanced and perfectly cooked it was. The chef’s selection disappeared within minutes—always a good sign—and the cuttlefish tempura was cooked beautifully: light, fresh, and not oily at all. The highlight of the night for many of us was the steak paired with Brussels sprouts—an outstanding combination. For dessert, four of us loved the matcha tiramisu, while the other three preferred the miso fondant—both were excellent in their own way. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend Kazan to anyone looking for a vibrant, high-quality dining spot in the city.
Celebrated my birthday with lunch at Kazan. We went for the tasting menu, I paired my meal with a Kyoto Protocol cocktail and a glass of Angel’s Envy bourbon, and hubby had Japanese gin with tonic. The menu was superb - highlights included the Wagyu tacos, the incredibly fresh seafood, the perfectly cooked striploin, and a delicious dessert to finish. Service was impeccable throughout, with plates cleared and the table refreshed seamlessly between some courses. Noise level slightly high as the restaurant was full for this service. Highly recommended.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary lunch. We were absolutely blown away by the hospitality and dining experience we had at Kazan. The maître d' Yuli was a delight to interact with- super warm and genuine. Our waiter Antonio was exceptional. The food was incredible: we had the “tasting menu”- lots of fresh, flavourful and well executed dishes. I cannot fault this restaurant in any way. The decor and ambiance is top tier. Even though it was busy with the corporate lunchtime rush we still felt like we were the only ones in the establishment. Highly recommend 10/10. Very excited to return and try other dishes from the menu.
