Very cool restaurant with great vibe & extensive Asian menu. Food was sensational, particularly the grilled beef. Good serving sizes and fresh & delicious ingredients. The prawn toast is the best I’ve ever had - made with real prawn (not the mass produced mince). Extensive wine list too. Very friendly & helpful staff offering excellent service from beginning to end. Highly recommended!
We visited Grandfathers for lunch and were immediately impressed by the restaurant's beautiful Asian-inspired interior and elegant atmosphere. On the day, we mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, while bringing our 2-year-old niece was a last-minute decision. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our reserved booth. The spacious layout made for a comfortable dining experience, and being seated next to the aquarium was a bonus, keeping our little niece happily entertained throughout the meal. A special thank you to Sumin, who made our dining experience truly exceptional. As it was our first visit, she was incredibly attentive and gave us plenty of time to browse the menu. She also recommended several dishes from the dim sum selections through to the mains, which made the experience feel seamless and well-paced. Throughout the meal, Sumin was always attentive to our table. She ensured we never felt rushed, overcrowded with dishes, or left waiting for food. Everything arrived at the perfect pace, allowing us to fully enjoy each course. To make the birthday celebration even more special, she arranged for one of the dishes to be served on a stunning dragon-shaped holder, which looked absolutely amazing and added a memorable touch to the occasion. By the end of the meal, we were comfortably full and decided to skip dessert, so we requested the bill. To our surprise, Sumin returned with two small plates of ice cream, each topped with a candle—one for me and one for our little niece. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a perfect ending to our celebration. It's often the little touches that make a dining experience truly memorable, and Sumin's warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made all the difference. We would like to sincerely thank her for the outstanding service as well as all the staff who made us feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door until we left feeling completely satisfied. We had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back again. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a great addition to the Sydney food scene! Not only do you get a cool yet funky atmosphere- but the food and service at Grandfather’s are impressive! To start we had the Lychee martini and Yuzu colada cocktails- both were excellent. Entree we had the prawn toast - a little awkward to eat but delicious nonetheless. Scallop spring rolls were so delicious- a must try. The dumpling platter was amazing - each dumpling was perfection (worth the hefty price tag) For mains we had the Salt & Pepper Calamari & a half serve of the Pippi’s in XO sauce on vermicelli noodles. Both delicious! We tried the Apple Pie for dessert - this was probably the least impressive item of the meal. This was a birthday celebration meal & the staff made sure to make my day special. I would call this a special occasion restaurant- it’s pricey but the food quality and service were exceptional. Looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended.
We came here for our anniversary and loved every minute. Food was delicious! Mitchell went above and beyond to find a special bottle of wine. Sumin was faultless appearing before we needed her. It was a truly wonderful night, and dealing with such genuine professionals made it far more than just a dinner out.
This place is an absolute gem. First the decor and atmosphere are breathtaking. All the food we order was absolutely delicious. The prawn toast was just so unsual with the toasted almonds on top, this was insane. Then, the sweet & sour pork was just succulent, the perfect balance with the sweet & sour, that was just flavoursome. The portion of the fried rice was absolute huge, and obviously yummy ! Everything was just outstanding. Our waiter, was super professional, very friendly and make our experience very enjoyable. Will definitely be back !!!
