Went for a coffee to sit on balcony above the beach on a beautiful day, best Latte ever had anywhere in world, hot and strong on 1 shot of coffee, magnificent. Worth the drive just for a coffee by the sea as club literally on the beach. (The fish and chips is always excellent too.)
It was the Saturday before Mother's Day and the family wanted seafood so Csalt became one of the options. It's a bit of a trek from where we live but that was fine, except for the parking. The car park is being renovated so we had a bit of a distance to walk, luckily we were able to drop mother by the entrance. Parking will be much better after the works are completed. Upon entry we realised it was going to be a busy day. The restaurant was quite full and even the bistro area seemed to be quite busy as well, which meant that the team were run off their feet. They're not used to being that busy. When I rate the food, it is quite good and reasonable for the type of venue that it is. The seafood medley was a great pic with grilled prawns, octopus 🐙 and calamari with chips and salad. As far as the service, I think they forgot one of our mains and they forgot one of our desserts and overall they were very slow on the day, but no surprise being the type of weekend that it is. Drunks are ordered at the bar (run by the club) and is well priced. Although I would avoid any cocktails from there. My Bloody Mary was minimalist with a small twig of celery and slice of lime found in the bottom of the glass but missed most of the savory components. (My fault.. what was I 🤔) They could improve the restaurant so much by improving their service (staff looked like they were in training) and possibly cleaning the windows and doing a little bit more for customer service. Overall it was a reasonable experience and I wouldn't rush back but if my mother requested it again, she gets what she wants..
A very pleasant lunch at the bistro part of Csalt on the Beach as part of the Yarra Bay Sailing Club. Ordered the Fish and chips which was only $21. Order at the counter and get given a buzzer. Service was quick despite being busy. Portions were huge. Fish well cooked and chips were nice. Couldnt find any salt or pepper anywhere. The tartare sauce tasted like the masterfoods one - I do love a freshly made tartare sauce. Views stunning from out on the deck and even inside from the long tables. Bar prices were good. Parking not too difficult even on Australia Day. Chill club with good honest meals.
Nice view of the beach. Foods are typical taste. Can be improved. Service can also improve. Heaps parking, thou can be a challenge depends on time and day. Barista coffee station set up can be improved.
