Been dying to come here for a while…and I’m so glad I finally made it. Everything was sensational, including the pickled mushroom and buffalo mozzarella dish, which I didn’t see anyone else order during our seating (truly missing out). The duck ragu pasta was so unique and well balanced, and the cotaletta was a classic done well. Cannot wait to come back here. Amazing service too.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an incredible experience! We visited last night to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday, and the team made it such a special and memorable evening. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was absolutely amazing—friendly, welcoming, professional, and incredibly attentive. We ordered far too much food, and instead of simply taking the order, she genuinely cared about our experience. She kindly recommended a few dishes and suggested we adjust our order, and every recommendation was spot on. The quality of the food was exceptional, and the warm hospitality from the entire team made the experience even better. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the steak this time, but that's the perfect excuse to come back—and we definitely will! This has quickly become one of our favourite Italian restaurants in Sydney. Thank you to everyone for making my girlfriend's birthday so special. We truly appreciated the effort you put into making our night unforgettable. I can't recommend this place highly enough!
An unforgettable dining experience from start to finish! We started with the Tuna Caponata, which was incredibly fresh, delicate, and beautifully balanced. The combination of the silky tuna with the sweet and savoury caponata was outstanding. The Fried Olives were the perfect snack to start the meal—crispy on the outside, juicy and flavourful on the inside, and surprisingly addictive. For the mains, the Agnolotti del Plin was easily one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the filling was rich and comforting, and the creamy sauce was indulgent without being overwhelming. The Cotoletta was another highlight—crispy, tender, and packed with flavour, with every bite cooked to perfection. A huge thank you to Lola, whose service was truly beyond expectations. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel genuinely looked after throughout the evening. Her recommendations were spot on and made the experience even more memorable. I also really appreciated how attentive the team was to the overall atmosphere. At one point another table became quite loud, and the staff handled the situation professionally and respectfully, ensuring the restaurant remained comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. It’s a small detail, but it says a lot about how much they care about their guests’ experience. Exceptional food, outstanding service, and a beautiful atmosphere. Neptune’s Grotto absolutely lives up to the hype, and I can’t wait to come back.
This place has been on my friend’s list to try, hence we came for her birthday celebration. Was disappointed that they didn’t prepare even a candle for the dessert we ordered post meal even though I made it clear that it was a birthday celebration when making the booking, also the server acknowledged it before she ushered us in. The atmosphere was great with nice decor, though a tad too dark to me, and we were placed at the bar seating as tables were booked out. We ordered one item for each section from the menu. For Antipasti, we got Grandma Slice - house baked tomato pizza, which we enjoyed the crispy top of the slice. The bread was soft and flavorful too. For entree, we got Carne Cruda alla Piemontese, which is made of raw beef, hazelnuts and parmigiano reggiano. It tasted similar to beef tartare, which was delicious. As for Primi, we got Maltagliati al Ragu d’ Amara, which is spinach and egg yolk pasta with duck and Nebbiolo ragu. We loved how soft and springy the pasta was. It was well complemented with its sauce and the meat gave it very flavorful. Though the pasta got saltier when we were finishing it. We were a tad disappointed when we couldn’t find steak on the menu. We resorted to having Miale al Latte, which is milk braised pork neck with white polenta and truffle. We loved how flavorsome and soft the pork was, and it was well complemented with polenta, very mushy and it offset the saltiness of the pork. As for Contorni, we got bitter leaves and honey vinaigrette for greens. My friend quite liked it. We got mousse al cioccolato e nocciole for dessert as recommended by the server. It was a chocolate mousse tart with piedmont hazelnut cream, which we quite enjoyed. It tasted like Ferraro roche, and the tart was very crispy and crunch to our liking. We couldn’t finish it as the mousse was a tad too heavy for us after finishing all the delicious dishes. All in all, we enjoyed our dining experience here as the server was attentive to us, though the birthday celebration was a small letdown, which was fine to me.
There is bar & booth seating at this cosy establishment. It was a Sunday dinner & they were doing a good trade. This feels like you are in a subterranean bunker with statues! The service was very good. The food was not huge portions for the price, but it was filling. The agnolotti pasta with hazelnuts was tasty with the extra crunch. The eggplant parmigiana was excellent. My dining partners thought their choices were okay. Check your bill as there was an extra item added to ours.
