My wife and I returned to our 'Home away from home' in Sydney, for 2 nights in April. This year, we were celebrating both of our birthdays. We go every year and we just love the feeling that we get there, the amazing staff and the delightful food offerings. This time, I booked a dinner at The James Restaurant for our first night and it was amazing. We celebrated a milestone birthday for my wife. We met up with our friend, Steve in the Observatory Bar on our second night, to have dinner and drinks. He and Edward always make our dinners a highlight and a meal there is always fun. We have been to many hotels around the world on our birthdays and anniversaries, but when we are in Sydney, we stay at the Langham. Some hotels are more generous, offering bottles of wine, various cakes, chocolates, etc. The Langham Sydney gave us their usual macarons for two and two bottles of Italian mineral water. After over 10 stays at this hotel, I think they could do much better for returning customers. This time we booked a Deluxe King Harbour room which is one of the nicest rooms available. The king bed is comfortably firm and it is easy to sleep well. The room coffee and tea is okay, but on arrival we sat and drank barista-made coffee in the lobby. The room we chose, affords views of boat, ferry and cruise ship traffic on the harbour during the day and a great evening sunset view, as well. We love having a bath in the evening and we enjoy the spacious bathroom, and plenty of hot water day or night. The air-conditioning in the room is adjustable, to a small degree. We had a buffet breakfast on the day that we left and noticed the service had changed quite dramatically this year, with many of the unique offerings gone and a new service of one, large, hot meal per customer. We prefer to chose small amounts of everything, rather than 1 large plate. We are sad that the oat porridge is gone and the self serve, large, rolled, Italian sausage is no more. My wife is concerned that the main, breakfast meal is too large for older people, like us. Providing an optional small serve, would cut down on wastage. Most times during a two day stay, we have clothes cleaned by the hotel washing service and we have found the prices in the hotel are better than our local drycleaners, and the hotel does a better job on delicate clothes. Clothes are returned to the room after cleaning, very efficiently and on time. Despite minor failings, a stay in this fabulous, prestige hotel is highly recommended.
Wonderful hotel and staff. We have always and will always enjoy the hospitality, service of the staff, and amazing setup that the hotel has to offer. They say if something isn’t broken why fix it? I must say the adjustments in the restaurant downstairs and buffet breakfast have been disappointing. The variety is limited and the offer has changed dramatically. We used to look forward to taking the kids for that unique breakfast at The Langham, but now it lacks abundance and variety. Please whoever is attending to this part of the hotel, make it go back to how it was 🙏
Top tier hotel that lived up to its expectation. My wife and I stayed for a week to celebrate our babymoon. We chose this specific hotel for the large sized room and we also wanted to stay somewhere where we would be well taken care of. We arrived early into Sydney. Despite arriving early to the hotel, the staff were very accommodating and the concierge team offered to hold onto our luggage and contact us as soon as the room was ready. Throughout our stay, the staff were all very pleasant and professional. Every staff member in the hotel that we came across greeted us with a smile and a hello. Little things like this makes what could be a regular hotel stay special. The rooms and other facilities were all very clean and polished. Turn down service was exceptional. When we first entered the room, the team surprised with a small sweet-filled bucket and a letter congratulating our babymoon which was a lovely touch. The location could feel a bit far from central areas if you are not into walking. But it definitely is handy, particularly if you enjoy running daily. It's a short staircase away to Barangaroo and only a 10-minute walk to Circular Quay. The nearest train station is also 10 minutes away by foot. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We'd love to be back if we are ever back in Sydney. The hotel certainly lives up to its name.
Absolutely terrible service — or rather, a complete lack of service from both the room service team and the hotel staff in general. Nobody seems interested in solving problems or trying to improve unpleasant situations caused by the hotel. It honestly feels like they simply do not care about their guests at all. On our first evening, we ordered Coca-Cola to the room. It was never delivered. The next day, we returned to the hotel extremely hungry and called room service. We were told the food would take around 30 minutes, which was completely fine with us. After 30 minutes, nothing arrived. We tried calling room service again — nobody answered. We called reception — nobody answered there either. Another 15 minutes passed. Still no food. We kept calling over and over again, and nobody picked up. Finally, after the fifth or sixth attempt, someone answered and told us they were “very busy” and that we needed to wait another 10 minutes. In the end, the food arrived more than 1 hour and 15 minutes later. And after all that waiting, they even brought the wrong order. We ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, but received one without chicken. After waiting so long for this food, we still could not properly eat dinner and had to leave the hotel and go to a nearby restaurant instead. What made the situation even worse was that the hotel never truly apologized or tried to make up for the situation in any way. When we went to reception later that evening to discuss the issue, they simply said “sorry” and that was it. They did not even ask which room we were staying in or try to investigate what had happened. During checkout, nobody helped us with our luggage either. When getting into the taxi, we had to handle all the suitcases ourselves. To be fair, the rooms themselves were clean and well maintained, and the hotel also allowed us to leave our luggage in storage for three days while we flew to another city, which we appreciated. However, this does not change the fact that the overall level of service was completely unacceptable for a supposed 5-star hotel. The service quality is barely worthy of 2 stars. I absolutely do not recommend staying here. This hotel is nowhere near worth the money.
Been coming here for the last 5 years for our anniversary because of great service and genuine care. Unfortunately this we were disappointed. I’m not sure if management has changed, but they made us feel like just another booking. Nothing special to remember us, placed us in an incorrect room with some awful Neighbours next door telling us to be quiet at 630pm and banging on the wall (we were speaking at a normal volume), robe with a hole in it for my son (and I had to ask for the robe- usually they provide it). We had to move rooms late in the evening and I had a funeral to attend the next day. New room had no robes in it at all. My son usually has some toiletries provided- this year there was nothing. Even small things like the soap dispenser having no soap in it, or room service taking over 20 mins to bring up a straw to our room (and we had to prompt them again) after I explained my young child really needs it to have milk in the morning. We use to come here because the service was impeccable. This year, I feel we paid full price for quite average service. Also, we have sent you a review about a week ago and there has been no follow up. At checkout, nobody asked how was your stay. Very disappointing.
