Reviews
Food was absolutely delicious, cracked potatoes were great and portion size was big enough for two to be decently filled up on the carb. I got the tenderloin and it was impeccably seasoned, I thought it was well worth the price, though it was more expensive than stated on the online menu. Good reviews for the fettuccine as well. However the food took super long to come (like, in excess of 40 mins) which we were warned of upon ordering, but I feel like that warning should come at the door or even earlier so we could make alternative plans for a birthday celeb. We came in with 1.5 hours to spare and ended up eating in a rush to make it for our next booking and couldn’t enjoy the atmosphere or the food as much as we wanted. Also, the two waiters hovering around the kiosk just behind us that day seemed happier at times to talk to each other instead of looking out for patrons in a very busy restaurant — good for them, but not really if you wanted help with something..
We came to Bopp & Tone to celebrate two birthdays and booked our table a week in advance. When we first arrived, we were seated right next to the entrance of terrace, which wasn’t ideal for a birthday celebration. We asked if we could move, and the staff happily changed our table to a much better one on the right side of the restaurant. They also left a lovely birthday card on our table, which was a very thoughtful touch. 🎁 At the end of our meal, they surprised us with complimentary birthday ice cream and gave us a chance to make a wish. It made the celebration feel extra special. 🥩🥗🍤he food and drinks were excellent overall. The tuna crudo, prawns, salmon, steak, zucchini flowers, and desserts were all delicious. The only dish we didn’t enjoy was the beetroot—it just wasn’t to our taste. The restaurant has a beautiful atmosphere, attentive service, and is a great place for a special occasion. 👐Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and would definitely come back.
Ok so the food is peak, but so are the prices. We spent around 260 dollars for five dishes which sounds crazy in hindsight but two were main meat dishes - ocean trout at market price around 70-80(?) and the steak. All absolutely delicious though - the steak was perfectly cooked, not tough at all, loved the butter. Trout skin was CRISPY, with a lovely more raw interior. Pasta was full of prawn flavour and very al dente. Beetroot was alright, and burrata was pretty good.
Wow! This one is in my top 3 of restaurants in the last 5 years. Service was that perfect mix of familiarity and deference. I loved the decor. Old fashioned chic. The food, that's where the wow comes from. It was a entre and cocktail day for us and this was the perfect choice. From the zucchini flowers to the Wagu steak, everything was cooked to perfection. Special mention to our server Bronte, perfect 👌
If you’re after a standout dining experience in the CBD, Bopp & Tone delivers in spades. We visited for lunch on Saturday before a show at the Sydney Opera House, and it proved to be the perfect start to the afternoon. The venue leans into a refined 1920s aesthetic with a subtle speakeasy feel—warm, elegant, and elevated by a fantastic live band that added atmosphere without ever overwhelming the table. Service was seamless throughout, with multiple attentive staff, and in particular Damien—whose Normandy roots shone through in both his warmth and professionalism. He was personable, knowledgeable, and struck exactly the right tone for a relaxed but polished dining experience. We opted for Bopp’s Banquet and added the steak tartare, and the food was nothing short of exceptional. The yellowfin tuna was an immediate standout—immaculately fresh, delicately dressed, and beautifully balanced. It had that clean, melt-in-the-mouth quality you hope for, lifted by bright, zesty elements that enhanced rather than masked the fish. The zucchini flowers were another highlight—perfectly crisp on the outside, with a light, delicate batter giving way to a rich, creamy filling. They struck that ideal balance between indulgence and finesse, and were gone far too quickly. The steak was superb. Cooked precisely to temperature, it was tender, deeply flavoured, and showcased the kitchen’s confidence with the wood grill. There’s a subtle smokiness that runs through many of the dishes, and here it elevated the beef beautifully without overpowering its natural richness. We also added the steak tartare, which was refined and well-balanced—hand-cut with a thoughtful mix of seasoning that brought both depth and brightness. To finish, the passionfruit meringue was a fitting finale. Light, airy, and vibrant. Bopp & Tone strikes that rare balance—elevated yet approachable, classic yet lively. The food is the hero here, and rightly so. Every dish felt considered, well-executed, and genuinely memorable. We had a great time! Thank you.
