The wonderful professional and knowledgeable staff make this place in Balmoral (eastern suburb of Sydney) so special. I loved the rosemary gimlet and the chicken with artichoke puree. Casual but elegant right on the water. Even the sides were excellent - my husband raved about the potatoes.
Loved the ceviche, pastas, mussels and crab mini bahn mi. The honey cake was lovely!! Honestly disappointed at the poor service at a place like this. Half of our dishes were not ordered (we wrote our order on a phone and showed it to the waitress). Our orders werent repeated back to us. They weren’t busy. Portions are not for sharing and more suited for individual. Nice view of the waters. Expected more for what we were paying.
We held a 25th anniversary dinner in the private dining room. We had the most amazing night and everything just worked! The food was great and the service fantastic (particularly Ute). It was a 25th anniversary dinner to remember.
This place is just magnificent! I can't describe how amazing Public Dining Room is. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the scenery... *chef's kiss* Perfect for any occasion, and caters for all ages and dietary requirements. Exquisite food and service and I honestly can't recommend this place enough. The only thing I could point out as a minor slip is the potatoes not being crispy enough. Can't wait to visit again ❤️
We came here for a friend’s birthday and we were a group of 10. To our surprise, we weren’t made to die on a set menu. Having the option of A La Carte was quite lovely but for an indecisive group it would’ve been nice to have a set menu option as well Service was really, really lovely. The waitresses and front of house was so kind and so accommodating Always. The only thing I would provide feedback on is the wait time on the food and service. Staff was super hospitable and really kind, but it did take a bit of time to get their attention. Food also came on quite slow. I think it was also because we ordered after another big group and then there was other big groups around so took quite a while for us to get our food. We had ordered a bottle of red to go with the mains and by the time we finished our glasses of wines the mains haven’t even arrived yet. I love that they warm their bread, though with the oven that was quite a pleasant surprise Otherwise, the food was overall quite pleasant, however nothing surprising. Everything we ate from the seafood platter to the lamb shoulder to the steaks, all the mains were like oh this is quite pleasant but none of it was like wow this is amazing We also got two pastas they were cooked a bit past Al dente Well, we have to commend the potatoes. The potatoes are amazing the creamy sauce and the fried speck was delicious. For the entrées we had I think it was a salmon tartare or maybe a trout tartare - either way we knew that the starters had been left out for a bit because the the fish was practically room temperature fish - which wasn’t insanely pleasant. Same goes for the kingfish. Overall, it was a fine meal It’s food that isn’t particularly memorable, but it’s not food you would complain about
